We arrived in Skagway at 8:00 am. We felt like sleeping in this day so we scheduled our excursion for 2:00 pm. We woke up nice and late then went for a walk around Skagway and did some sightseeing. After going back to the ship and eating lunch we got on a bus at 1:50 and headed out to Dyea (pronounced die-ee). After a long lecture on horse etiquette we mounted our rides and were off into the woods. Sara was riding "Lucky" and I rode "Spike". We rode through the woods for about 45 minutes and then reached an open space. We let the horses drink some water from a stream and then let them graze for a while. While they were grazing one of the tour guides was nice enough to take our picture. We then headed back. My horse got spooked a couple of times but I was able to get him under control before anything bad could happen. We returned to the camp and dismounted. The guides said that if we roe the horses correctly our knees should be hurting when we got done. He wasn't kidding. I was the first to dismount and I was walking like an old man for 5 minutes. Sara was making fun of me until she got off her steed. I jumped off my horse but Sara wussed out and used the stairs. She hobbled all the way down them. We had some Salmon pate' and hot chocolate and headed back to Skagway. The ship left Skagway around 8:00 pm.
